Solid phase extraction (SPE) with ProElut® selectively isolates target components from complex or larger volume samples prior to analysis (e.g. HPLC, GC). Based on liquid chromatography principles, SPE relies on strong, reversiple interactions, hydrophobic, polar, or ion exchange, between the analyte and stationary phase, where interactions with the matrix should not occur.
Sample pre-treatment (e.g., adjusting pH or ionic strength) help maximize the chemical property differences between analyte and matrix, allowing the analyte to concentrate as a narrow zone on the stationary phase. After a washing step removes unwanted absorbed components, selective elution of the analyte takes place.
